Bastian is singer, pianist and composer with the 78 Twins (“probably the coolest rock-twins in Germany at this time” WDR 2007). He´s stood together with his twin brother on stage for more than 25 years. At the tender age of five his dad presented him with a ukelele and thereby laid the foundation stone for his son´s musical career.There followed – with his brother on drums, dad on the guitar and an english bass-player- numerous gigs at local festivals in the Ruhr area. At twelve Bastian decided to change from strings to keys and played now on piano, with inspiration from artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Elton John and Billy Joel. Their first own band was founded by the brothers in December 1996. As “Twins” they covered predominately Rock`n Roll and Bluessongs. Shortly thereafter they gained the reputation of being one of the best Ruhr area Live-bands.
Their first CD (“We can see clearly now”) came out in 1999:
Between 2000 until 2005, Bastian und Benny, with the producer Micky Nebel from Cologne, were owners of the BMB-Studios in Essen. During this period of time, three CDs with almost exclusively own compositions were released.
2004 the “Twins” took first and second places in the “Grand Prix of Composers” in Aachen.
This competition was promoted by the “German disc-jockey Organisation” (DDO). The “Twins” were also internationally distinguished. They reached the finale of the largest Song-contest in the U/K (“U/K Songwriting contest”).
The year 2005 brought not only their first single on the market”Just your style”, but also a change of name. In order to avoid any confusion with a similar named band, they named themselves “78 Twins” (`78 = Twins year of birth).
It came in 2006 to a special liason.” 78 Twins “ flew to Andalusia to work with Paul Grau on new songs.
Paul had also worked with “Fury in the Slaughterhouse, Reamon and Rausch. The result of the collaboration is the CD “Motril”.
End of 2006, the “78 Twins “ were able to distinguish themselves again on the national plane.At the “German Rock and Pop Prize 2006” in Duisburg they earned three prizes.

- Second place in the category “Best Rockband”
- Third place in category “ Song “
At the end of 2006 the 78 Twins started a cooperation with Producer Thomas Erkelenz. Under his leadership, five older songs were restored and six new songs composed. In 2009 the recordings should be on the market.
2008 Bastian and brother Benny celebrated their 25th stage anniversary and could look back on over 1000 performances in Germany, Austria, Spain and Holland.
The “Musical Twins from Essen” ( Bild Zeitung Newspaper 1987) have emerged as extraodinary entertainers and artists, who are extremely proud of their ever growing fan community.
In Sept.2008, the “Deutsche Popstiftung” had another little surprise for Bastian in hand and presented him with „The German Rock and Pop Prize“ for the best Pop voice 2008.
